From producing quality machines, presenting in multiple exhibitions and traveling the world what a year 2018 has been for Genio Roasters! Over the course of 2018 Genio Roasters expanded into Bahrain, Norway, Australia and Reunion Isand.

For the first time this year Genio Roasters were the proud sponsors of A Shot In The Dark Competition. In this competition each roaster received 6kgs of 86+ Specialty grade, direct trade Nicaraguan coffee or Speciality Grade Burundi coffee with the brief to roast this outstanding micro-lot to its best possible potential. On the 27th July 2018, at the Creative Coffee Week in Durban, 12 Roasters brought 500g of their roasted coffee to be judged blind. The winners of A Shot In The Dark 2018 were Bean There Coffee Roasters and Truth Coffee Roasters. Genio Roasters will continue to sponsor this event in 2019. With all the excitement that was going on Genio Roasters ran a selfie competition and 4 lucky winners walked away with a home brew hamper. 2 winners received a Chemex hamper and the other two won Hario V60 dripper hampers. Friends of Genio also received a coffee bean bangle as a part of our corporate social responsibility initiative. Neil Maree, our founder conducted demonstrations on the Genio Precision 6 Roaster throughout the weekend giving onlookers an insight of the basics of coffee roasting.

Genio Roasters was at the Food and Hospitality’s Hostex on the 6-8 May at Gallagher Convention Center. Not only were we showcasing our handcrafted roasters, but we also payed homage to some of the best roasteries from around the world, by serving a selection of their coffees. Coffees that we served to everyone that visited us at Hostex came from Gardelli in Italy as well as roasteries from America including: Intelligentsia, Madcap, La Colombe and Ritual Coffee.
